Masato Mochizuki spent 4 years at the Waseda University football club and spent most of that time in the shadow of Yuto Misao who currently plays in the J1 for Shonan Bellmare.

そのほとんどの時間を現在湘南ベルーマーレの一員としてJ1でプレーする三竿雄斗選手の影で過ごす事になるのですが。。。

Even though he hardly started the game, he was always talked about to have huge potential and possibly be the key player for Waseda.
Which was never to be…

ほとんどスタメン出場していないのにも関わらず、彼の潜在能力は常に話題にあがりいつかは早稲田のキープレヤーになると言われていました。
それが起こる事はありませんでした・・・

Despite his lack of game time at the University, he was miraculously still picked up by a J league club called Machida Zelvia who currently plays in J2.
They must of seen something in him.
大学での出場時間が限られていた中でもJ2に所属する町田ゼルビアが奇跡的に拾ってくれました。
彼の中に何かが見えたのでしょう。

After 2 unsuccessful seasons with Machida, he was released by the club and that is when he came to me if I could help him look for a club in Australia.
町田での2シーズンは上手くいかず、契約更新はありませんでした。
そのタイミングで僕のところに話に来てオーストラリアでチームを探す相談に乗りました。

I always believed in his potential as well, and I felt that if he was given a fair go at one certain club he could go on to succeed at a higher level.
僕も彼のポテンシャルには気付いており、どこかのクラブでチャンスを貰えれば更に上のレベルでプレー出来る選手だと思っています。

Fast forward to Sydney, he went to 2 clubs, one was Sydney United and the other was Blacktown City.
I actually went to see both of the sessions and he was absolutely useless at the Blacktown City training session. Sometimes he just seems to be out of the game and switched off so that is definitely one part of his game where he needs to improve on.
シドニーまで早送りすると、彼はシドニーユナイテッドとブラックタウンシティーという2チームに練習参加をしました。どちらの練習も観に来ましたがブラックタウンでは使いものにならないぐらい酷かったです。時にゲームに入れないというか集中が切れるところは今後改善していかなきゃいけないところでしょうね。

So Sydney United was still left, and very keen to sign him as he was doing very well at their training sessions.
I knew that they were desperate for a left back and somehow this year there were few other clubs after a left back.
という事でシドニーユナイテッドはまだ残っており、練習でも良かったためかなり前向きに考えてくれていました。
もちろん僕はそのチームがどうしても左サイドバックを欲しいという情報を知っていたのですが、今年は不思議にも他のチームでも左サイドバックを探しているチームがありました。

After few weeks of training and trial games, finally the coach was convinced to sign him and bring him on board.
The coach, Mark Rudan also believes he can possibly make the step up to the A-league if he is given time to work with Masato.

数週間の練習参加と数試合のテスト後にやっと監督に認められて契約する事が出来ました。
監督のマーク・ルーダンも時間さえくれれば理人がAリーグに行ける力はあると信じているみたいです。
